Lydiard Millicent welcomed Pudsey Bear today to raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal. Children in Need supports a number of projects to help disabled children and young people in the UK.
Many of these projects are local, and include Aster Living (through a Child Support Worker in a safe house for children who have experienced domestic violence), Swindon Downs Syndrome Group and Swindon Mentoring & Self Help Youth Project. For more details of the work supported click on this link to the BBC’s page.
Visitors donated £202.30, which Lexington are generously matching. So a very welcome sum of £404.60 will soon be winging its way to Pudsey.
Meanwhile, down the lane, in the Butts, Lydiard Millicent Church of England Primary School also hosted a number of activities to support the campaign.
Children took part in a no-uniform day, many sporting Pudsey costumes and lots of polka dots. There is a sing-along taking part in the Hall, with parents donating money to stop the singing!
Parents, staff and children are also hosting an auction, with top lots being a Pudsey Cake and a Soft Pudsey Bear signed by Carol Vorderman.
Lydiard Millicent has done Pudsey proud.
And don’t worry if you missed out on these two events, you can still make a donation to Children in Need through the BBC’s website. There will also be various Children in Need programmes running tonight. Tune in at 7pm for the Doctor Who Christmas Special preview!
